1. What is the Mentorship Program?

The Sogang PALS Mentor Program is designed to help incoming international transfer and freshman students adjust to university life and provide them with a support system throughout their first semester at Sogang University.

2. What’s a Mentor?

A mentor in the Sogang PALS program is a person who helps incoming international students by providing vital information, assisting with important university-related matters, and potentially forming a lasting bond. Mentors spend time with their mentees based on availability, answering questions related to university life, and are encouraged to seek help from other mentors if they cannot answer certain questions.

3. Mentor’s Role & Responsibility

• Help incoming international students adjust to university life.
• Provide vital information and assist with matters important to international students.
• Spend time with mentees and address their university-related inquiries.
• Volunteer at official Sogang PALS events to earn volunteer hours.
• Submit monthly activity reports on time.
• Complete a minimum of 5 mentorship hours each month.
• Maintain a positive relationship with mentees and other PALS members.

4. Mentor’s NOT Role & Responsibility

• Mentors are not responsible for resolving all inquiries by themselves. If a question is unanswerable, mentors should consult with the Office of International Affairs Team, International Student Education Center, or related departments in the school to solve the issue.
• Mentors are not expected to act as professional advisors for legal, medical, or personal matters beyond their capacity. Their responsibility is to help the mentees navigate seamlessly on campus.
• Mentors are not required to meet with mentees beyond what is feasible within their availability or outside the scope of university-related support.
